About The Role:
The Jr. Mechanical Engineer will support the design, prototyping, testing, and documentation of mechanical parts and systems. Working under the direction of senior engineers, this role contributes to CAD modelling, engineering drawings, prototype builds, design revisions, and production documentation while developing practical mechanical engineering skills in a fast-paced hardware environment.
This is a full-time, on-site role based in Burnaby, British Columbia.
Key Responsibilities:
Mechanical Design & Documentation
- Design and update mechanical parts and systems according to engineering direction and internal standards.
- Produce engineering drawings with correct dimensions, basic tolerances, and clear revision control.
- Prepare engineering production documentation packages.
- Implement design revisions, ECO changes, and drawing updates accurately and on time.
- Coordinate with the Product Operations Coordinator to ensure documentation consistency and proper file management.
Prototyping & Testing
- Support prototype builds, mechanical assembly, and hands-on testing activities.
- Conduct tests, document findings, and help prepare mechanical test reports.
- Apply basic DFM principles while taking design direction from senior engineers.
Engineering Support & Collaboration
- Participate in design reviews, take notes, and incorporate feedback into design updates.
- Participate in shop organization, prototype material preparation, and mechanical housekeeping tasks as needed.

- A clear communicator who works effectively with senior engineers, operations, and documentation teams.
- Confident using hand tools, power tools, soldering equipment, measuring tools, and basic fabrication tools.
- Produces clean, organized CAD, drawings, and engineering documentation while catching errors early and maintaining accuracy.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Experience in mechanical design, prototyping, or engineering support roles.
- Proficiency in CAD software (Autodesk Fusion preferred), with demonstrated skill in part and assembly modelling.
- Basic understanding of mechanical fundamentals, including materials, tolerances, fasteners, and force paths.
Preferred Qualifications
- Internship or co-op experience in hardware development, robotics, UAVs, or similar sectors.
- Familiarity with rapid prototyping tools, including 3D printing and basic machining.
- Exposure to DFM/DFA concepts or coursework.
Compensation package:
- Competitive salary: $65,000 - $85,000 CAD
