About The Role:
Draganfly Innovations is on the lookout for a Director of IT & Security. This senior, hands‑on leadership role is responsible for defining and executing the organization’s technology strategy, IT operations, cybersecurity posture, and data governance. It’s an ideal fit for an SME environment where strategic vision must balance with daily operational execution across infrastructure, cloud systems, cybersecurity programs, vendor management, and governance.

You’ll be joining Draganfly at a pivotal time, where you’ll help build and scale our IT foundation from the ground up. This is a rare opportunity to influence long-term systems architecture, establish core processes, and create a secure, scalable technology environment that will support the company’s rapid growth.

This leader ensures the reliability, security, and scalability of all technology systems while partnering closely with operations, finance, HR, and product/engineering teams to support cross-functional success.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement an enterprise-wide cybersecurity strategy and roadmap.
  • Oversee network security, cloud security, endpoint protection, and identity management.
  • Lead incident response and disaster recovery planning, including tabletop exercises.
  • Ensure compliance with frameworks such as ISO 27001, SOC 2, NIST, GDPR, and relevant local regulations.
  • Manage security architecture, vulnerability assessments, and penetration testing.
  • Partner with IT and DevOps teams to embed security into the software development lifecycle (DevSecOps).
  • Monitor emerging threats and implement proactive security measures.
  • Manage security budgets, vendor relationships, and key technology investments.
  • Provide regular reporting on security posture and risk to executive leadership and the board.

Qualifications:  
  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Engineering, or related field.
  • Master’s degree (MBA, MSc Information Security, MSc Information Systems) is an asset but not required.
  • 8+ years of progressive experience across IT, infrastructure, cloud, security, or systems administration.
  • 3+ years in a leadership or management role, ideally spanning both IT and security.
  • Proven experience managing technology environments in small‑to‑mid sized organizations, including budget ownership, vendor oversight, and hands-on technical work.
  • Expertise in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and network security.
  • Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CISA, CCSP are highly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of SIEM, firewalls, encryption, and IAM technologies.
  • Experience implementing or maturing frameworks such as SOC 2, ISO 27001, or NIST CSF.
  • Demonstrated success delivering cross-functional IT/security initiatives (e.g., cloud migrations, system upgrades, digital transformation projects).

Compensation package:
  • Competitive salary: $130,000 – $170,000
